Miscellaneous Gallery - Ref: 08567 - Thrift
Taken in May just above Port Quin, on the north cornish coast. Thrift, or Sea Pink as it is sometimes known is a hardy coastal plant coming into flower in late April/ May. The trick is to catch it at its best, bcause the flowering period is relatively short, after which the flower heads turn a dirty brown colour and are likely to stay that way all summer. This makes them unsightly for use as foreground interest, but catch them at the right time and you have a magnificent display to enhance your seascapes.
