North Cornwall Gallery - Ref: 14948 - Sunset at Porthcothan Bay

Image 14948

On Sunday I ventured out to Trevose Head on the North Cornish coast, but although it was a glorious day, there was a cloudless sky. Towards 9.00pm some cloud started to form on the horizon so I thought I might venture down to Porthcothan and see if I could catch the sunset. Luckily the tide was on the ebb leaving pristine sand with no footprints. There is a stream that runs down through the middle of the beach so I set my tripod up so the ripples would provide the foreground interest and made the silhouette of Will's Rock the main subject. This image was made about 20 minutes after the sun had dipped below the horizon, and the light levels were quite low requiring an exposure of +½ second.
